Do we own our donors? Are they “the property” of the Development department? Are gala attendees interested in our mission in addition to the nice dinner they came to?

We are our donors charity and not the reverse. In fact, we may one of many charities they support.

We need to focus on what is important to them. That starts by knowing them. Do we regularly talk with them or have coffee with them? Do we understand why they give to us?

Once we know what is important, we need to capture that and remember it to serve them better. We need to create great experiences that focus on their goals.

We need to enable solutions that give donors the options and choices they want to make.
